Invisible Gifts

This is my last post for a few weeks as I sign off for the holidays. I wish you all a happy holiday season filled with peace, love, and good health. May we have a new year full of kindness and hope. ❤

This poem is in response to the image Colleen Chesebro provided for her #Tanka Tuesday Challenge. The poem is a garland cinquain.

Bow Down

Bow down

to winter’s wheel

when sacred smoke ascends

blends in the hushed whiteness of breath

spirit

sleepless

gather our dreams

life’s unspoken secrets

tales of longing words of solace

unseen

our eyes

cannot behold

the warp and weft of love

nor peace and bliss, a swallow’s song

a chant

our hands

cannot unwrap

whispers of forgiveness

a prayer in a child’s heart

a hope

in grace

we surrender

to winter’s darkest night

the gifts of the invisible

renewed

bow down

gather our dreams

the weft and weave of love

a prayer in a child’s heart

renewed.

Your welcome 🙏 in my chrome browser it says my site don’t exist I want to register it never mind my e-wallet balance is tied to a domain that’s for sale for $300 a year I am an attention disorder because I was in a coma and 11 days in a car accident years ago! Maybe my settings are getting fixed finally

This contemplative poem breathes the air of gentleness and peace into the mist rising from a cooling pond or the soft steam from a comforting cup of steeping tea. Lovely.

  4. This poem has all the right feels for me! It’s gentle and wise. “blends in the hushed whiteness of breath”. That interior experience of the dark Solstice is illuminated for me with your poem. Happy New Year 🎊 Diana! I hope this year feels kinder to all of us 🌸💕 and, I am so grateful to have “met” you in 2021 on WP. I am thoroughly enjoying your book, “The Sorcerer’s Garden” !

    • Thanks you for the lovely comment, Ka. You had me smiling from beginning to end. Winter makes me feel reflective and humble, and I love that the light starts its return at the start of winter, not the end. Well planned! Have a wonderful 2021 full of good health, peace, and joy. ❤

  5. How beautiful. May we bow down to the wonders of this world, this world that is warning us – TAKE CARE OF ME AND OF EACH OTHER!. May we bow away from arrogance and unkindness, and bring in compassion, hope, and love for 2021. ❤

A beautifully scripted poem to end this year on a note of hope and happiness. This year taught us all a little humility in a sense, and your last stanza is exactly the feeling I have as the new year comes more into view: “bow down, gather our dreams, the weft and weave of love, a prayer in a child’s heart, renewed.” The sense of something better up ahead is what this holiday has brought to many of us despite the difficulty of the year. Take care, Diana, and wish you health and happiness in ’21.

    • Thank you so much for the lovely comment, Dalo. We’re going to have a few difficult months ahead, but there is light at the end of the darkness – as our beautiful planet reminds us. And I do hope that we’ve learned a few valuable lessons along the way. It would be wonderful after all this loss to come through it as kinder, more compassionate world. Wishing you a wonderful new year. ❤
