A Rising

I have been lying low
I have been waiting,
Waiting for this moment
The right moment to leap out
It is now, I tell myself
‘Togetherness’ was the day –
“When they meet in wee hours,
Both the sources of light.”
Eerie silence encompassed me
As I struggled out,
I tried to run toward light
A pull seized me.
Shackles entrenched my feet,
Shadows seemed to smother…
