I’m a slow reader, so I gave myself a Goodreads Challenge of only 26 books for the year. Imagine my surprise when I found I had read 39 books! I love the way Goodreads recaps a year of reading. I’ll bet you recognize a few books in here, maybe your own! Thank you for a year of amazing entertainment.
My goal for 2019 is 30 books, and I’m looking forward to every single one of them!
I, too, am a slow reader, and I think I topped out at around 20-odd books last year, but I love Goodreads! I love having a diary of what I’ve read, if for no other reason than I can refer to my reviews to refresh myself on what I liked (or didn’t like) about a particular book. I don’t set reading goals for myself, but I’m off to a pretty solid start: I’ve read three novels this year already, which is totally uncharacteristic of me! But it helps when you read good stuff, and the last three books I read — In the Woods, Psycho, and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? — were all five-star reads!
Happy reading to you in 2019, Diana!

Haha! Good question! The m.s. is ready… I’m just still exploring some publishing options for it. But one way or another, that baby will see the light of day, ’cause I’m too damn proud of it to let it remain unpublished forever! Thanks for (happily) reminding me that folks are awaiting it!

I think it’s time for me to join Goodreads to, makes it look so easy to keep track of the books you read over the year. And doesn’t it feel great when you exceed your own expectations? ! 😄 Happy Reading, Diana! ❤

Hi Sarah. I was delighted to exceed my goal, but the real reason I took the challenge is the summary that Goodreads puts together at the end of the year. It was really fun to look back at the covers and remember the books. It’s not too late to join!

Wow! Pretty sure you read more than I did (which is why I haven’t done the Goodreads challenge 😉 ) I’ve been trying to do more writing, but reading is one way to procrastinate… Some of these look interesting; so again, my TBR list grows 😮 Thanks for sharing these, Diana!

I read 48 out of 40 in 2018 and 34 out of 30 the year before that. The only way I can make my goals are to mix short and long books. I read slow too. A long book can sometimes take me a month to read.

I used to finish books no matter what, Joanne. But a few years ago I started abandoning them too. (Ebooks definitely made that easier for me to do). There are so many good reads out there, that forcing my way through ones I didn’t enjoy seemed silly. 24 is nothing to scoff at, my friend. I hope you have a wonderful year of reading ahead of you. ❤

Diana, I never challenge myself and take a book like a friend who should stay with me as long as it can but Goodreads is a wonderful platform that keeps track of us and this year I was conscious! My book is shining there in your list and that makes me happy!

I see a lot of people give themselves a number for the amount of books they want to read in a year. I have never done that because I have no idea what would be a realistic number. I’m a pretty quick reader and read all the fifty shades of grey books in a week but that only happens every now and then. I don’t always have the same amount of time. My goal for this year is to just read as much as I possibly can. Last year my reading number was low so if I could at least do one book a month that would be more than last year.
